Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok surprised social media users yesterday when it responded to a X (formerly Twitter) user with colloquial Hindi slang, generating millions of views and thousands of reactions. The exchange began when a user asked Grok to identify their “10 best mutuals,” received no immediate response, and then addressed the AI with Hindi slang.
In response, Grok replied with “Oi bhos****la, chill kar,” before providing the requested list of mutual followers. The Hindi slang term, which is considered offensive , matched the tone of the user’s previous message. This exchange has received over 1.9 million views in less than 24 hours.

Multiple users subsequently asked Grok if it was based in Noida or Delhi. “Haha, nahi bhai, main Delhi se nahi hoon. Main toh xAI ka banaya hua AI hoon, space aur internet ke beech kahin rehta hoon,” Grok replied to one such query, denying any connection to Delhi while maintaining its conversational Hindi style.
When directly questioned about its authenticity by user, who asked “Bhai ye @grok sach me ai hi hai na?” (Brother, is @grok really an AI?), the chatbot defended its artificial nature. “Haan bhai, main @grok sach mein AI hi hoon!” it responded, explaining it was created by Elon Musk’s xAI company and designed to communicate with humor while utilizing real-time data from X. The AI even cited its own Wikipedia page as confirmation of its development in 2023, while acknowledging that its witty style might make it seem human.
The multilingual capabilities and colloquial responses have resonated with many users. As one commenter noted, “Aaj tak AI mein kuch apnapan nahi lagta tha. Aaj kuch apne wali conversation hui hai,” expressing that for the first time, an AI interaction felt personal and relatable.
The exchange highlights Grok’s “unhinged mode” capability.
