Khushdil Shah dropped a sitter from Shubman Gill during their high-octane clash in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday in Dubai. The incident took place in the 11th over of the Indian innings.

Coming on the back of two consecutive hundreds, Shubman Gill continued his momentum with his delicate strokeplay against the likes of Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Bowling his first over, Haris Rauf banged in short on the middle stump as Shubman Gill pulled it straight to Khushdil Shah at mid-wicket quickly. Unable to judge the pace of the ball, Khushdil Shah squandered the chance, giving a life to the Indian batter on 35.

The dropped catch was followed by Haris Raufs animated reaction, including a few cuss words. The 30-year-old later got a pat from Babar Azam. However, Shubman Gill was undone by an Abrar Ahmed delivery seven overs later for 46 off 52 balls.

India restrict Pakistan for 241

Earlier, India bowled out Pakistan for 241. Saud Shakeel top-scored for Pakistan with a 62 off 76 balls, while skipper Mohammad Rizwan made a laborious 46 from 77 deliveries as the two batters added 104 runs for the third wicket.

Khushdil Shah chipped in with a 39-ball 38 to lift Pakistan after they slipped to 165 for five at the start of the 37th over. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) picked up three wickets after all-rounder Hardik Pandya (2/31) dismissed Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel.

Harshit Rana bowled an excellent last over, picking up a wicket without conceding a run. At the end, India defeated Pakistan by six wickets, thanks to Virat Kohli’s unbeaten hundred to all but qualify for the semifinals. India, currently top Group A with four points from two matches, will play New Zealand on March 2.
